A protest is underway by police officers in Thessaloniki in front of the fair town, BNR reported. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in Thessaloniki for the official opening tomorrow of the 88th International Fair.

Policemen and firefighters are protesting because of the many dangers of their profession, low pay and long business trips. The protest is taking place in the center of Thessaloniki.

Passers-by applaud the police and firefighters and thank them for their participation in flood and fire rescue operations. Local residents support their demands.

All police officers must now have cameras on their uniforms so that they are not accused of violence when guarding protests.

Today in Thessaloniki there was also a large demonstration of medics from state hospitals. They wanted more funds for health care and better conditions in hospitals for patients. Special anti-riot units barred medics from approaching the fair town, leading to tensions.

Today there were also protests by teachers against the changes in education, which provide for the unification of classes, due to a lack of teachers.

In connection with the opening of the fair tomorrow, the center of Thessaloniki is blocked by more than 4 thousand policemen. They monitor law enforcement with a drone and helicopters. Parking of private cars near the fairground is prohibited.

Unions announce organized mass demonstrations tomorrow during the fair's official opening.
