Serbian ambassador in Madrid Irena Sharac was attacked in the city center, dariknews.bg reported.
According to eyewitnesses, a young man approached Sharac, who was speaking on the phone in Serbian, and asked her if she was from Serbia, then kicked her in the back and ran away.
Several of those present tried to detain the assailant, but he slipped away.
The attack was reported to the police, who arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation.
“I strongly condemn the physical attack against Ambassador Sharac in the center of Madrid. We demand from all authorities a full investigation and acceptance of responsibility for this outrageous incident and act of violence against the highest diplomatic representative of our country," said Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric.
