The Russians have started building a mysterious structure on the Crimean bridge connecting Russia with the occupied Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, the UNIAN agency reported.
The representative of the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, said that it is still unclear what exactly the facility is, but in all likelihood the occupiers want to strengthen the protection of the bridge.
„It will be understood when it is finished, but most likely they will not be able to do it because a period of storms is starting and accordingly it will be very difficult,” said the Ukrainian representative.
These could be various hydrotechnical facilities, they could be barrier facilities, Pletenchuk pointed out. According to him, such constructions are periodically thrown ashore by the waves.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has struck the Crimean bridge several times, including with naval drones, causing serious damage. However, the bridge was never demolished – an ambition that Kyiv has openly expressed to realize.
The Crimean bridge is a symbol of Putin's rule and its destruction will cause enormous damage to his regime. Therefore, the Russians are doing everything possible to protect it.
