Taiwan signs $228 million military deal with US - 1

The US State Department said, that he gave the green light to a military sale to Taiwan, including spare parts worth about 228 million dollars, according to information from "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.

Taiwanese armed forces say these units are key to maintaining their combat readiness in response to China's increased actions in the so-called gray area.

The State Department statement emphasized that the stockpile of spare parts will be returned, repaired and reshipped to Taiwan from available US government resources, with no difficulties expected in the integration of these components into Taiwan's armed forces.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that the arms supply package is expected to be in place within a month.

In its additional statement, the ministry pointed out that "the Chinese Communists' persistent interventions in the gray area have limited training and rapid response capabilities in our air and sea space.

The repair and return of aviation parts agreed with the US will help maintain a high level of combat readiness and security of various types of military air equipment, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense.

In recent years, China has stepped up military and political pressure on Taiwan to enforce its territorial claims, which Taipei strongly rejects.

China uses gray zone warfare tactics that do not lead to direct confrontations but keep pressure on Taiwanese forces. Among these actions are regular coast guard patrols near the Kinmen Islands, controlled by Taiwan and within China's reach.
