The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will gather the leaders of the Western Balkans for a traditional working lunch today in New York, where the UN General Assembly is being held, it was announced The European Commission, cited by Tanyug and BTA.
„On Wednesday, High Representative Borel will host six leaders from the Western Balkans for a traditional working lunch,”, says an EC announcement.
Last year Borel also hosted an informal meeting with Western Balkan leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Such informal meetings, as stated in the press release of the European External Action Service at the time, are held regularly in the context of enhanced cooperation with Western Balkan partners in the field of foreign policy and provide an opportunity to exchange views on the challenges of the region and its European future .
Last year's discussion focused on the current global geopolitical challenges that dominate the agenda of the UN General Assembly, with the emphasis also on enlargement and ideas for the gradual integration of EU partners.
Last week, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hosted a working lunch with the leaders of the Western Balkans.
