Israel should not be allowed to attack one after another the countries of the "axis of resistance" allied with Iran, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said last night, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
Israel last night said it had bombed Houthi targets in Yemen, widening its confrontation with Iran's allies in the region after killing the leader of the "Hezbollah" Said Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon.
In his comments carried by state media, Pezeshkian said Lebanon must be supported.
"Lebanese fighters should not be left alone in this battle so that the Zionist regime (Israel) cannot attack the countries of the Axis of Resistance one after another," he said.
Deputy commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Abbas Nilforoushan, was also killed in the attack in a Beirut suburb that killed the leader of "Hezbollah".
"We cannot accept such actions and they will not be left unanswered. A decisive reaction is needed," Pezeshkian said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned the Israeli strikes in Yemen and said they were aimed at "civilian infrastructure" such as power plant and fuel tanks.
"Iran again warns of the consequences on regional and international peace and security of the Zionist regime's (Israel) waging of war,", the spokesman added.
In another Israeli attack in Yemen in July, fighter jets bombed "dual-use sites as energy infrastructure" in Hodeida, and Israel's military spokesman said at the time that the port was being used by the Houthis to receive Iranian arms shipments.
