Donald Trump called Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris “mentally disabled” and said that illegal immigrants want to cut the throats of ordinary Americans in their own homes, AFP reported, quoted by NOVA.
On September 27, Harris visited the US-Mexico border and promised to do more to control asylum applications and border crossings by undocumented migrants.
In a speech to supporters in the small town of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Trump said Joe Biden and Harris were responsible for the “invasion” of abusers.
Anti-immigrant sentiment has been central to Trump's appeal in economically struggling, predominantly white parts of the country since his presidential victory in 2016. As the Nov. 5 presidential election nears, the Republican has stepped up his anti-immigrant rhetoric.
„Joe Biden is mentally retarded. Kamala was born like this. She was born this way. And if you think about it, only a mentally retarded person could allow this to happen to our country,” Trump said.
Harris, meanwhile, hit back and said Trump was using “the same hackneyed vocabulary we've been hearing for years”.
„They will come into your kitchen, cut your throat. Small-town America is terrified of incoming migrants, and even when they haven't arrived, they're terrified. They will rape, rob, steal, loot and kill the people of the United States”, Trump said in his speech in Wisconsin.
He added that illegal immigrants will take jobs away from minorities and union workers.
