Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah" accused the Israeli army of an attempt to break into the southern Lebanese city of Odaise, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The paramilitary group added that battles are currently taking place there.

At the same time, the Israeli army reported that air raid sirens had gone off in southern Israel - in Ein Hashlosha and Kisuf. The Israel Defense Forces later announced that the distress call had been mistaken as air defenses had gone astray, Reuters reported.

Earlier today, explosions resounded in three southern neighborhoods of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. It is about the "Burj al Barayne", "Hueyfat" and "Haret Hreik", Reuters informed, recalling that the Israeli army had called on residents of these areas to evacuate immediately.

The fighting between "Hezbollah" and the Israeli army are becoming more intense, the agency said.

The US State Department announced that an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon this week killed an American citizen. His name is Kamel Ahmad Jawad and he is from Dearborn, Michigan. He was killed on Tuesday.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced that Washington is investigating the circumstances surrounding Jawad's death.

According to information from the Lebanese government, more than two thousand people have died in the last year since the war between Israel and the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" broke out, most of them having died in the last two weeks.

After months of ordering exchanges of fire with "Hezbollah" across its northern border, Israel launched a ground operation on Lebanese territory.

The spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres - Stephane Dujarric, called the number of victims among the peaceful Arab population in the Middle East "totally unacceptable", according to Reuters.

The Israeli army called for the immediate evacuation of the residents of the southern districts of the Lebanese capital Beirut, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA. The warning comes in the context of the Israeli ground operation on Lebanese territory, directed against strongholds of the Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah", the agency specifies.

Meanwhile, the US State Department announced in a statement last night that the US government will provide $157 million in new humanitarian aid to the conflict-affected population in Lebanon and the region.

"This funding is intended for the current and future needs of displaced Lebanese citizens and refugees on the territory of Lebanon, as well as the municipalities that have sheltered them. The aid is also for people who have fled to neighboring Syria," said the statement of the US State Department, quoted by Reuters.

The British government announced last night that it has already taken 250 citizens of the country out of Lebanon on charter flights, specifying that tomorrow a new charter will take off from the Middle Eastern country with those wishing to leave it, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA .

"No further flights are scheduled for now, although we will continue to monitor the situation," said the British Foreign Office statement, made in the context of rising tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Germany organized yesterday the evacuation of another 219 of its citizens from the Lebanese capital Beirut by planes of the German Air Force, DPA reported. Thus, the number of people who have left Lebanon since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah" on board German military aircraft, there are already 460 people, the agency specifies.

More flights are planned depending on the needs and the situation. The German army took employees of the German embassy in Beirut out of Lebanon on Monday, and 130 citizens of the country on Wednesday, DPA recalls.

The Israeli army said it had once again struck from the air a command center of the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" in the central part of the Gaza Strip, Reuters reported.

The command center was located in a building that used to house a school, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

The Israeli army notes in its statement that this is another example of the systematic abuse of "Hamas" with civilian infrastructure in violation of international law. The Israel Defense Forces emphasized that measures had been taken before the attack to reduce the danger to civilians.

DPA stipulates that this information cannot be independently verified.

Meanwhile, Reuters informs that explosions resounded today in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut, and smoke rose from the places in question.

This happened shortly after the Israeli army called on the population of these neighborhoods to evacuate immediately, notes Reuters.

The "Ezzedine al-Qassam" brigades, which represent the military wing of the radical Palestinian group "Hamas", have confirmed the death of one of their commanders - Zahi Yasser Abd ar Razek Ufi, in an Israeli strike in the city of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The movement specified in its statement that seven fighters died in Tulkarem along with the head of its network.

Earlier, the Israeli army announced that it had killed Zahi Yasser Abd ar Razek Ufi in a strike.
