Ukrainian authorities are discussing a scenario for ending the conflict with Russia, in which Kiev will make territorial concessions, writes "BBC", citing Der Spiegel.
Previously, in Kiev, it was believed that victory should be "unconditional surrender" of Russia. "But this is impossible without concessions," Der Spiegel quoted a high-ranking Ukrainian official as saying on condition of anonymity.
"The deal should also be profitable for Russia", the publication's source notes.
He points to declining morale among the Ukrainian military and a split in society. "The prognosis is bad. "People really don't want to fight anymore," says Der Spiegel's interlocutor.
According to him, support for Kiev from Western countries will gradually decrease, regardless of who wins the US presidential election. This contradicts numerous statements by Kiev's Western allies, including during President Zelensky's just-ended European tour.
