The Minister of National Defense of Romania Angel Talvar signed a letter of intent to create a military mobility corridor between Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey on Thursday on the sidelines of the NATO meeting in Brussels, Agerpress agency reported for BTA.

According to a press release of the Ministry of National Defense published on the institution's website, this initiative aims to improve connectivity and rapid response capability in the region, providing essential support to NATO's efforts to ensure security in the Black Sea region .

In the context of the increasingly complex global security situation, an urgent need to rationalize and harmonize the logistical processes necessary for the effective deployment of the armed forces in the region has been identified, the quoted source said.

The letter of intent aims to establish a coordinated network of major supply routes between the three countries to ensure rapid and secure transportation of troops, equipment and military materials.

„Military mobility is critical to ensuring both the continued execution of our missions and the maintenance of stability and security in the region. The cooperation between Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey demonstrates our commitment to support collective defense and to contribute to global security,” said Minister Angel Talvar, quoted in the press release.

NATO is strengthening its deterrence and rapid response capabilities to effectively deal with any security threat. Improving logistics infrastructure, harmonizing the legislative framework, optimizing mobility corridors and ensuring a sustainable supply chain strengthens the ability to deploy and sustain deployed forces in the field. These measures are essential for maintaining the security of allied territory, as well as for a rapid and coordinated response to emerging challenges in the region. Military mobility is an important enabler for the interconnectedness of regional transport infrastructure networks, the Ministry of National Defense states.

„Military mobility is a leading project of cooperation between NATO and the EU and an essential element for reliable deterrence and a defensive position in the Black Sea region,” said Minister Talvar.
