Our Consulate General in Los Angeles warned Bulgarians there about dangerous water and looters VIDEO - 1

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles warned on its Facebook page that the fires in the metropolis have caused water pollution in some areas and urged Bulgarian citizens living in the affected areas to carefully monitor the information of local authorities about the state of drinking water.

"WARNING! The fires in Los Angeles County have caused water pollution in some areas and warnings about dangerous water have been issued", writes the Bulgarian diplomatic mission.

Warnings have been issued in the following areas:

1. Pacific Palisades 90272 (Pacific Palisades ZIP code 90272) and neighboring municipalities located north of "San Vicente" Blvd. (San Vicente Blvd) - https://ladwp-jtti.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/.../Pacific...

2. Malibu - https://malibucity.org/1168/Palisades-Fire

3. Pasadena - https://pwp.cityofpasadena.net/pasadena-drinking-water-system-impacted-by-eaton-fire/

4. Altadena - https://www.rclwa.org/Home

"We strongly recommend that Bulgarian citizens living in areas affected by the fire carefully monitor the information of local authorities on the condition of drinking water. "If a water quality warning is issued in your area, use only boiled tap water or bottled water purchased from the commercial network for drinking and cooking," the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles also wrote. It urges Bulgarian citizens to monitor the current information on the website of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power - https://www.ladwp.com/.

The consulate also issued another warning. "In connection with reports of looting of homes in areas affected by the fires in Los Angeles County, we are advising you to be extra careful and monitor your home and property if you live in an area affected by the natural disaster", the diplomatic mission wrote.

The two huge wildfires that threaten Los Angeles from the east and west are still burning, but the subsidence of the winds that have been fanning the flames for two consecutive days has made the work of firefighters easier, Reuters added.

The "Palisades" fire, which is raging between Santa Monica and Malibu in the western part of the city, and the "Eaton" fire, which broke out to the east, near Pasadena, are already among the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history. "Palisades" and "Eaton" have so far covered about 125 sq. km and reduced entire neighborhoods to ashes.

At least five people have died, thousands of homes and businesses have been burned to the ground. About 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate and 200,000 have been instructed to prepare for evacuation.
