Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine's Western allies have promised during yesterday's meeting in Germany to provide Kiev with additional military aid in the amount of $ 2 billion, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Zelensky told the TV channel "Mi-Ukraine" after the meeting of the Contact Group on the provision of defense to Ukraine at the "Ramstein" air base that 34 countries have promised assistance related to various aspects of the 34-month-old war.
"We had a good meeting with a very good result. There were additional packages of aid for Ukraine in the amount of $ 2 billion. dollars", the Ukrainian head of state noted.
The assistance covers some of Ukraine's needs in the field of air defense, information technology, demining, the navy, the air force and artillery. "And all this will strengthen Ukraine", Zelensky stressed, without disclosing details of which countries have made commitments.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington would provide Ukraine with additional military assistance in the amount of $500 million, including air defense missiles, "air-to-surface" ammunition and equipment for maintaining F-16 fighter jets.
After attending the meeting of the Contact Group of Kyiv's partners in "Ramstein", Zelensky left for Rome, where he met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The two leaders discussed improving Ukraine's air defense and efforts to form a unified position on resolving the military conflict.
