Two nights of unrest rocked the outskirts of the Portuguese capital Lisbon, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
Buses and garbage were set on fire and stones were thrown mercilessly.
The riots erupted after the fatal police shooting of a black man. They began in the multicultural neighborhood of the Lisbon suburb of Amadora after a 43-year-old man was shot dead by police in the early hours of Monday.
According to the media, about 30 people took to the streets on Monday evening, but it is not clear how many joined on the second night.
Three people were detained and two police officers and two civilians were injured. Riot police were dispatched to the scene and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
According to a police statement, the shooting victim fled and crashed his vehicle after seeing a police patrol. When the police approached, the man tried to attack them with a sharp object and was shot, after which he died in the hospital.
Some local residents accused the police of using excessive force. The human rights group "SOS Racism" (SOS Racismo) expressed concern, stressing that the man is part of a long list of black citizens killed by the police.
Law enforcement said an investigation would be conducted into the use of excessive force, and Interior Minister Margarida Blasko assured that every effort would be made to bring those involved in the riots to justice.
