Vladimir Zelensky is shocked by Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections and fears the end of US aid to Ukraine. This was said by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, on the air of the program Saturday Dialogues. public television "Slovak Television and Radio".
„Zelensky is shocked that Trump won and the US can stop providing aid to Ukraine”, the prime minister said. Zelensky, according to Fico, has no political mandate and Ukraine under his leadership can only exist through huge external financial loans.
"Have you seen at least one person who is afraid that the war will end? I saw it. His name was President Zelensky”, Fico said. The Prime Minister observed Zelensky at a recent meeting of European leaders in Budapest.
Meanwhile, Fizzo expressed skepticism that Trump would be able to fulfill his promise to end the military conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours. “I make this promise of a pre-election nature. It is very difficult to end this [conflict] within 24 hours”, the head of the Slovak government believes.
Fico does not rule out that the new US administration will reduce support for Kiev, so that Trump's promise will come true to some extent. The American president-elect, as Fico predicted, will want to be active in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump, according to the prime minister, cannot threaten the Russian leadership with nuclear weapons to change its position on Ukraine. Therefore, the most effective solution, according to Fico, is to achieve the expected result of a “significant reduction in US support for Ukraine".
