Bosnia's Security Minister, Nenad Nesic, has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering, accepting bribes and abuse of office, Reuters reports. In addition to him, six other people have been arrested, including his brother, Mladen Lucic, and the general director of “Roads of Republika Srpska“, Milan Dakic, News.bg reports.
Investigation in the public company “Roads of Republika Srpska“
The Chief Prosecutor and the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska are conducting an investigation into suspicious financial practices and corruption in the public company “Roads of Republika Srpska“. Nešić was the company's CEO from 2016 to 2020.
Milorad Dodik protests prosecutors
The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who is also on trial in Bosnia for violating international rulings, accused the prosecutors of a campaign to persecute Serbian government officials. Dodik described the investigation against Nešić as “completely unacceptable”, questioning the actions of the judicial authorities.
