The operation to capture Kherson will require a lot of effort and resources from the Ukrainians, Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo told RIA Novosti.
„Kherson has always been, is and will be a Russian city. I believe that someday we will return it, but we must be realistic and understand: returning Kherson is a complex operation that will require a lot of effort and resources. So I can't give an exact time frame, I'm not in the military," Saldo said.
Kherson Region is a region located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, "washing" from the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Russia considers the region as its territory after a referendum held in September 2022. The Ukrainian side does not recognize the legitimacy of the poll. Currently, 75% of Kherson Oblast is under Russian control, and part of the right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson, is held by Ukrainian troops.
