Ukrainian army underestimates North Korean troops in Russia - 1

The Ukrainian army does not believe that North Korean forces stationed in Russia's Kursk region represent a significant threat, said the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, General Igor Skibiuk, in an interview with Ukrinform, quoted by BTA.

According to Skibyuk, the deployment of North Korean military is a sign of a crisis in the Russian army.

"I think the Russians accepted this agreement under harsh conditions. They probably made significant concessions, offered premiums, and openly humiliated themselves. The combat capacity of these units is questionable given the peculiarities of North Korea," declared the general.

He expressed skepticism about the size and organization of North Korean forces in Kursk Oblast and said he did not expect them to pose a real threat to the Ukrainian military.

"According to our calculations, there are more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers. The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminate over 1,000 enemy servicemen per day. This means that the North Korean contingent is a resource to eliminate in about ten days. We feel confident about the situation in the Kursk region. When these military personnel are activated and we apply our countermeasures, we will make an accurate assessment. So far, however, we don't see anything serious," Skibuk added.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that about 11,000 North Korean soldiers were stationed in the Kursk region. According to him, they have already participated in battles and suffered significant losses.
