Ukrainian and US teams are working to clarify the technical details of the deliveries of resumed US military aid after their temporary suspension, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhy at a briefing, BTA reported.
Tykhy noted that there has been a lot of discussion in the media about "some components of the arms aid packages that have been either revised or delayed", but at the moment US defense support for Ukraine continues.
"We are grateful to the US side for the clear signals about the continuation and possibility of strengthening defense support for Ukraine. We see these signals and welcome them. It is very important that now Ukrainian and US teams are working to clarify all technical "details - which of the packages already released are on the way and when they will arrive," Tychy said.
On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said the United States would send more weapons to Ukraine to help Kiev counter a growing Russian offensive.
According to Reuters, Trump will use his presidential powers for the first time since returning to power in January to send Ukraine a package of weapons. More than three years after Russia invaded the neighboring country, the Trump administration will allocate weapons from US stockpiles to be sent to Ukraine under the president's emergency provision plan, officials said. One of them told Reuters that the value of the arms package could be about $300 million.
It could include Patriot missile defense systems and medium-range attack missiles. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said Washington would deliver weapons to Ukraine through NATO. In addition this is what the American leader said he would make an important statement regarding Russia on Monday.
