The President of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik has been rushed to hospital in Belgrade after he was examined because of acute stomach pains, reported the national Serbian television RTS, quoted by BTA.
According to the initial diagnosis, the 65-year-old politician is expected to undergo abdominal surgery.
The public will be informed about the state of health of Milorad Dodik in a timely manner, announced the cabinet of Republika Srpska.
Republika Srpska is part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is divided into two semi-autonomous parts – Republika Srpska, populated mostly by Bosnian Serbs, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, home to Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks) and Bosnian Croats. Each part has its own government, parliament and police, but the two semi-autonomies are linked by common state-level institutions, including the judiciary, army, security services and tax administration.
