US President Donald Trump has nominated Andrew Puzder, former head of the American fast food chain Carl's Jr., to be the new US ambassador to the European Union, the head of state said in a statement.
“I am pleased to announce that Andrew F. Puzder will be the next United States ambassador to the European Union. Andy is a successful lawyer, businessman, economic commentator and author“, Trump said.
The US president noted that since 2000, Puzder has been CEO of the parent company of the fast food chain Carl's Jr. and Hardee's.
“During his 17 years as CEO, Andy led the company out of serious financial difficulties, allowing it to survive, become financially secure, and grow. Andy will do an excellent job representing our nation's interests in this important region,“ Trump added.
