This year's Budapest gay parade will go ahead as planned and will be the largest ever, the capital's mayor, Gergely Karacsón, announced on the social network “Facebook“, quoted by the Hungarian news agency MTI, BTA reports.
“As mayor of the capital's 14th district, I was the first to hang the rainbow flag on public buildings“, Karacsón shared.
“Since I became mayor of Budapest, the rainbow flag has been raised every year in front of the municipality and this will continue, even if the government bans it. The city council helps organize the Budapest Gay Pride every year and will continue to do so, regardless of any government bans,“ the mayor added.
“The city belongs to everyone, we can only be free if we are all free,“ Karacsón added.
