After the fine of the student Andrey Dimitrov, who placed children's figures on dangerous pedestrian crossings in Sofia, the inspectorate will impose a disciplinary sanction on the employee who wrote the ticket. The reason is that the inspector did not take into account the good intentions of the initiative, reports NOVA.
Weeks ago, Andrey and his supporters placed 10 children's figures on five dangerous pedestrian crossings in Sofia. On one of them, 15-year-old Filip died: “I myself was the victim of a traffic accident in early childhood, when I was riding a bicycle and was pushed by a car. We believe that this will allow irresponsible institutions to finally take responsibility, and drivers to be more careful on the road”.
Young people from the "Development through Effective Actions" association and the national kickboxing team are helping with the installation and financing: "They were made using 3D printing. They are stabilized with concrete underneath. The figure itself is made of fiberglass as a protective layer and everything is hand-painted".
On the first day, two of the figures were broken by vandals, but the others were fined 50 leva by the Sofia Traffic Inspectorate: "It was a ticket that was issued, I paid it literally an hour after it was handed to me. I knew from the very beginning of the action that I had not coordinated it, but that was precisely the goal, because we want to give a response to the entire initiative”.
The inspectorate first explained that the installation of any elements is carried out only after coordination and documents.
Hours later, in a new position from the Sofia Inspectorate, they explained that the good intentions of the initiative were not taken into account and after an internal review, the inspector would be disciplined.
As a mother, Svetla evaluates the figures as useful: "I want to congratulate you for what you have done. I think this is commendable. There is a need for more such markings, unfortunately".
On four of the pedestrian crossings, the figures were removed, and the case should find a solution at a meeting between Andrey and the inspectorate on Monday.
