"As Bulgarians, we have so many reasons for self-confidence and pride – both in history and today. The Day of the People's Awakeners – "This unique Bulgarian holiday is not confined to the dusty pages of textbooks and history books. Alongside the awakeners who created the Bulgarian state and the Bulgarian nation and charted the path forward for all of us, today we are joined by the names of our contemporaries with their contribution in various spheres of public, cultural, and spiritual life, who hold the torch of awakening aloft - of being thirsty for knowledge, hungry for spiritual food, of being sensitive to every injustice, to aggressive ignorance, to voluntarily playing the role of extras in a play of the absurd that others write about us," Yotova also wrote.
According to her, the word "awakener" contains so much history and meaning. It is, above all, Bulgarianness, to which Paisii Hilendarski returned us with his "Slavonic-Bulgarian History", reminding us that the Bulgarian people are great with their conquests, with their spirituality and culture. After him, a whole galaxy of spiritual people intertwined their fate with the fate of the entire Bulgarian people, the vice president also pointed out.
