Unemployment benefits in Sofia exceed the minimum wage

NSSI data show that the average unemployment benefit for the entire country is on average 827 leva

Unemployment benefits in Sofia continue to be above the minimum wage, according to the latest data from the National Social Security Institute.

It is the highest in the country and is on average 1145 leva.

The lowest benefit is received by people without a livelihood in Kardzhali - 669 leva, BNR reported.

Traditionally, the largest amount of unemployment benefits in the entire country is received by men in the capital. According to the latest data, it is on average 1260 leva, that is, it is higher than the minimum wage of 1213 leva, which is planned for next year.

According to the latest data, the compensation for women without a livelihood in Sofia is 1048 leva. Unemployed men in Varna follow - with a little over 1007 leva in average compensation.

In no other region in the country does the amount exceed 1000 leva. The lowest unemployment benefits, apart from in Kardzhali, are also received in Vidin and Haskovo - an average of 676 leva.

The registered unemployed entitled to compensation throughout the country total just over 58,000 people. They are 40% of all 148,000 people registered with the labor offices without a livelihood.

The minimum daily amount of unemployment benefits for this year is 18 leva, and the maximum - 107.14 leva.

The period for payment of benefits varies from 4 to 12 months and depends on the length of each person's insurance experience.

By law, those who have paid or are due to pay insurance contributions to the "Unemployment" fund for at least 12 months in the last 18 months before the termination of insurance are entitled to unemployment benefits.
