Bulgaria had its leaders during the Revival, and even in the first decades after that. Levski, Botev... This process of creating leadership has stalled. At the beginning of the Transition, there were personalities like Dr. Petar Dertliev, Alexander Lilov, and if you like, Ivan Kostov, the Tsar. Now, no matter how much I look around, I can't see a leader who will lead the country on a new path, this was stated in "Speak Now" by President Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012).
"Maybe we should return to Levski's words "to be equal with other European nations. That is, We have formally achieved membership in the European Union, but do we now stand as equals with the European nations? It is not so. It is probably very difficult for us to compare ourselves with these "leaders" that Europe currently has. I cannot see any such ones there either".
Now there is no one "who catches your eye, who is becoming".
Georgi Parvanov also commented on the new tests before Sofia and Skopje.
"I think we were wrong. I mean the current rulers with reducing this goal to the registration of these 3,500 Bulgarians in the constitution of North Macedonia".
We will argue and pass the ball to each other, he said. According to Parvanov, "leadership on both sides" is needed.
Regarding the early elections, Georgi Parvanov said that "things have been repeated for years. This is not a surprise. I do not expect any surprises in these upcoming elections".
"We will play this game for some time to come. That is why it is very important for the president to do his job and form a cabinet that will guarantee honest laws".
The "house book" must be categorically abolished, Parvanov said.
"I do not think that the president should do anything out of spite. Out of stubbornness. He should do his job. Let them do whatever they want. He simply has to fulfill his commitments, and when he leaves the presidency he can do whatever he wants.
Regarding the left and its participation in power, Parvanov described it as "unsatisfactory".
"Somehow their voice was not clearly heard, even though there were good ministers. The will and character of a ruling party were not visible.".
There must be a change for "a convincing participation in the new elections," Parvanov said.
Georgi Parvanov expressed hope that the BSP "will enter the next parliament more convincingly.".
