"The Budget 2025 prepared by the ruling party once again shows that it is untenable. The budgetary success that was declared by the Ministry of Finance is an illusion and we were assured that it ended with a deficit of 3.1%. At first glance, it sounds very good, but this is a blatant accounting fraud".
This was stated by the deputy from "Vazrazhdane" Tsoncho Ganev in a statement from the rostrum of the National Assembly.
Ganev pointed out that the Ministry of Finance is deliberately keeping quiet about the capital for state-owned companies, giving the example of "one of the piggy banks of the ruling party" - BDB. The real deficit exceeds 5% of GDP, pointed out a deputy from "Vazrajdane", quoted by news.bg.
According to him, the revenues in Budget 2025 are unrealistically planned. "The government is setting unrealistic goals even before the year is over," criticizes Tsoncho Ganev.
He believes that the state has saved the budget by cutting expenses. Only over 60% of the planned capital expenditures have been implemented. Only 85% of the planned expenditures have been implemented, the MP reported.
According to Tsoncho Ganev, Budget 2025 is a failure from the start. The mockery also concerns the new state debt, which continues to accumulate. Today there is a real picture of an increase in the new government debt, he added.
According to him, since the beginning of the year, government bonds for significant amounts have been planned - 300 million leva of new government debt issued for the capital market for January, and a new auction for another 300 million leva.
The new government debt since the beginning of the year is approximately 1 billion leva, the opposition MP calculated. And he reminded that Bulgaria is approaching the so-called "Greek scenario".
Tsoncho Ganev warned that what is being pursued as economic policy is - more debt, frozen investments in infrastructure, less money for social services, more risks to fiscal sustainability.
