On March 3, we celebrate the 148th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria.

Since 1991, the Day of Liberation from the Ottoman Yoke has been the National Holiday of Bulgaria. On this day, the San Stefano Peace Treaty was signed to end the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), which symbolically commemorated the Liberation of Bulgaria.

Traditionally, the center of the celebrations is the historic Shipka Peak. From 11:00 a.m., BNT 1 will broadcast live the ceremony of raising the National Tricolor from the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sofia, and at 11:30 a.m. it will broadcast live the ceremony from Mount Shipka.

The President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Iliana Yotova will participate in the solemn celebration of the National Day. The Head of State will pay tribute to the memory and heroism of those who died for the freedom of Bulgaria. Yotova will accept the honor guard of honor of the representative units of the Bulgarian Army. The Head of State will greet and bow before the Monument to Freedom.

The culmination of the celebrations for the National Day is the solemn lighting-inspection on "Narodno sabranie" Square at 6:30 p.m.
