The powerful jammer discovered in the capital's "Dragalevtsi" district on Friday is most likely military - for blocking signals, GPS and communications. This version was announced to NOVA by the chairman of the Association of the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Todor Ivandzhikov. He believes that the device was more likely used for protection against drones.
Official information about the operation of the services on Friday is still extremely scarce. According to NOVA, various people connected to the complex in the capital's district are being questioned, as well as the house in the Svilengrad village of Kapitan Andreevo, where searches were also carried out.
„This one in particular must be a large military jammer that has different frequencies. It is apparently quite strong. There are some that are up to 100 m, up to 1 km, and this one, to cover the whole of Sofia, is a serious machine. In my opinion, some people did not know how serious it was or how to operate it in order to catch them”, said Ivandzhikov.
„It was most likely because of drones. But drones are already being produced that do not require a GPS system, so sometimes this does not help”, said Ivandzhikov.
“How it was imported and from where, the services must establish”, the expert also commented. According to him, however, such a device costs hundreds of thousands. “This one in particular must be a six-figure sum”, believes Todor Ivandzhikov.
The use of jammers by citizens and non-governmental organizations is completely illegal in our country.
