From the point of view of the market, there is no reason for Bulgarians to worry on food prices on the eve of one of the brightest Christian holidays – Easter.

This is what he told "Focus“ the chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets Vladimir Ivanov.

"A rather sustained stabilization is observed. We even have an emerging trend right now – more than four weeks down. If consumers look across the retail market, we have similar levels to last year, even slightly lower. If we get our shopping basket right, Easter will cost us a bit less than in 2023 – 2.3% compared to the same period last year”, he calculated and was categorical: "There are no conditions for market panic”.

When asked what the Easter supplement of BGN 75, which the deputies voted for the poorest pensioners, would amount to, Ivanov explained: "It will help people with very low incomes. With this money, they will easily be able to celebrate the holiday. Naturally, the fact that the market is stable and the competitive clash is very powerful, where incomes are very low, the word "expensive“ always sits in the center of attention. I'm sorry it's like that, but the market is supposed to have different layers”.

According to him, the fact that the two holidays /note.ed. – Easter and St. George's Day/ are right after each other, it will save Bulgarians money.

The chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Auctions called on consumers to be well informed, not to buy at any price and to choose longer the products in their consumer basket.

"The most important thing is that they choose the site they buy from well, trust it and make their informed judgment. To see the difference, the wholesale prices, to compare several objects. Above all, not to buy from sites that are not sanitary, because they risk their own health, and thus support bad practices. My call is for every Bulgarian to buy Bulgarian products for their table on Easter. This is also the fastest way to invest in our own economy and to support the producers”, concluded Vladimir Ivanov.
