There is less than a month left until the end of the transition period in which workers can to receive their food vouchers - both on paper and in electronic version.
From July 1, they will be electronic only.
For BNR, the general secretary of the Association of Food Voucher Operators in Bulgaria, Tanya Obushtarova, explained that traders will continue to accept paper vouchers - until the expiry date written on them:
"People should be reassured that if it says on their voucher that it is valid until 2025, they are not in danger of losing their funds. In the case of electronic vouchers, the validity period is the same as for paper vouchers - within a period of up to one year after issuance. So people should keep an eye on this validity. Most carriers offer ways to verify - most often on a mobile app or over the phone. First they are spent, first they are "pulled" the funds with the shortest validity".
Over 750 thousand are the users of the popular social benefit, and there are 11 licensed voucher operators.
The state budget sets an annual quota for their issuance.
Up to BGN 200 per month is exempt from taxation - for one employee.
