Velingrad switches to water mode from today. A large part of the city, called the “spa capital of the Balkans”, remains without drinking water for two weeks.
The reason is the planned repair by NEK of the route that supplies water to the central part of the city. The regime will affect not only local but also hotels.
In order not to leave the city completely dry, the local government started the construction of alternative water pipes.
„The repair of NEK is urgent. A part of the citizens will have water. We have uploaded information on the website of the municipality which streets will not be affected. The repair will most likely take two weeks. We investigated the problem and in the end I think the municipality and the water company got it right. We made an alternate temporary route. We will bring enough flow of water. We will strive for as few hours as possible for Velingrad to be without water,” said Mayor Kostadin Koev, reports Nova.
