The coalition "BSP - United Left" registers its candidates for mayors of the capital districts "Iskar" and "Slatina" in the MEC. The extraordinary partial local elections will be held on June 15. The candidate of the left coalition for the "Iskar" district will be Boris Tsvetkov. He graduated from mathematics and informatics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He served two terms as a municipal councilor in the SOS and one as a member of parliament. In the local elections in the fall of 2019, he was a candidate of the MK "BSP for Bulgaria" for mayor of the "Iskar" district and in the runoff, he fell behind by only 114 votes.

In the "Slatina" district, Valentin Peykov will run for mayor from the "BSP - United Left" Coalition. He has a law degree, works as a lawyer. He has experience in local government, was a legal advisor in the municipal administration. He was also a candidate for MP from the BSP lists.

"After a little over a year and a half ago, most citizens of the "Iskar" district lost their trust in the long-ruling right-wing mayor and elected a new right-wing mayor in his place, who practically did nothing in 18 months in office, now we have elections again, commented Boris Tsvetkov, after registering with the MEC. - It is extremely necessary to start the construction of 2 new kindergartens in the area so that there are no more children waiting.

This will be the first thing I will do when I become mayor. The other priority is related to the expropriation of private property. Paradoxically, on Epiphany, when Fandakova used to come, and now Terziev, to cast the cross in the Druzhba lake, we all gather on private land. Its owner will sooner or later fence off this terrain. Therefore, the municipality must solve this issue as soon as possible. The problem with the redevelopment of the "Druzhba" residential complex is very big and its solution cannot be postponed. It is no coincidence that all of us who live there joke that we have become Druzhbai – "Druzhba" like Dubai with high-rise buildings.

However, we will save the spaces between the blocks. I will propose for urgent expropriation not only the four private plots in the park around the lake, but also those in the park next to the 108th school. We must preserve these lungs of the neighborhood. And Busmantsi, Abdovitsa and Milenkov are a shame for all of Sofia. In the 21st century, in a European capital, they do not have sewage. Therefore, we will immediately make a sewage project in order to apply for funding. And this is not about a lot of money at all. We also have an idea for intra-neighborhood transport leading to the metro, using the route of trolleybus lines 4 and 11. We will use trolleybuses and electric buses, thus solving the issue not only with transport, but also with air pollution. However, most important of all is that citizens have the opportunity to actively participate in the management of the area. That is why I am categorically determined to support the public and neighborhood councils and give them the right to vote in solving all problems in the area.

Valentin Peykov noted that he has lived in the "Slatina" area for more than 50 years and knows the problems very well. "They are mainly related to overdevelopment, infrastructure, parking and the lack of places in kindergartens," he said. - I categorically believe that citizens should take an active part in making decisions about the development and future of the area. Therefore, local referendums will be among the main tools with which I plan to work. People's awareness of future actions in the neighborhoods in which they live must also be greatly improved. So that they can react in time and help solve important issues.".
