Festive processions and cultural events are organized throughout the country on the occasion of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavic Literature, BNT reported.
In Sofia, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature will be traditionally celebrated with a solemn procession and a festive concert.
At 10:30 a.m., a city-wide festive procession will begin from the square in front of the National Archaeological Museum, which will continue along Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. and Vasil Levski Blvd. to reach the National Library "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", where a solemn ceremony will begin in front of the monument to the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be hosted by actress Silvia Lulcheva, and the program will feature the Guards Representative Brass Band and the choir of the National Music School "Lyubomir Pipkov".
The water blessing will be performed by His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil. A solemn speech for the holiday will be delivered by the Mayor of the Sofia Municipality Vasil Terziev and the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova. Students from the 73rd Sofia Secondary School "Vladislav Gramatik" Emma Radkova and Samuil Kanchev will perform the poem "I am a Bulgarian" by Ivan Vazov.
In the "Bulgarian Army" Theater will be awarded the "Askeer" awards for achievements in theatrical art during the past season. The ceremony will be broadcast live on BNT 1 at 8:40 p.m.
