Deputies accepted Kiril Petkov's resignation as a member of parliament from the "Continuing the Change" group. This happened with 197 votes "for" and 8 "against".
Last week, he left the co-chairmanship post in the political formation and announced that he was also resigning from his seat as a member of parliament.
The reason - the corruption scandal with mayors and municipal councilors of the party in the Sofia Municipality. The accusations that were made against them are about pressure from the party leadership to conclude public procurement contracts with certain companies.
Anonymous audio recordings also appeared in the public domain. The deputy mayor of Sofia, Nikola Barbutov, was detained and charged. And Kiril Petkov's resignation comes as an act of assuming responsibility on behalf of the formation.
