Academician Petar Ivanov to FACTI: This incident with Ursula's GPS is a fraud for the simple-minded stupid public

What is behind the information about the “jammed“ GPS of the plane of the EC President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Bulgaria a few days ago. What is hidden behind the “news“, if we leave the field of political speech… Demographer and PR specialist Academician Petar Ivanov spoke to FACTI.

- Academician Ivanov, how do you view the whole incident about the “jammed“ GPS of the plane of Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Bulgaria?
- I'm laughing. The flight went normally, the landing was carried out normally, but let me tell you that I also deal with PR – public relations. This is an analytical science. It was created by the nephew of Sigmund Freud's wife - Edward Bernays. His books are Bibles on this issue. PR in general can be "white", "gray" and "black". And there are many interesting and all sorts of tricks in it to influence the masses. In "gray" PR there is a recommendation that if you want to raise your rating, do something that affects your security. Why? Because the mass public is very sensitive to this topic. People love those who have suffered. And in this way, a rather serious public reaction can be "cashed in", if I may put it that way. Especially among such peoples as ours - among the Slavic peoples. There are other opinions on the issue of Slavs and whether we are such, but that is another topic. So we - Slavs, love those who have been overthrown, badly treated, because we are not good people.

- So you are simply attributing the whole incident and all this to PR?
- The experts know this - otherwise they must be big idiots. I am talking about Ursula's people. They pulled this trick that the plane's GPS was supposedly damaged, as if it was dangerous for the pilots. I ask a question. How come only Ursula's plane doesn't have GPS, while at the same time, about 1000 other planes that have flown over Bulgaria haven't complained about not having a GPS connection? And the Ursula pilots weren't even directed to another airport, as they should be according to aviation safety protocols, if there is a serious problem.

- What else impressed you...
- Here's another one. Where does such news come from and in the “Financial Times“ - financial newspaper!? Now that it is clear that this is a fabricated story, because there is no data about endangering the flight, damage to GPS and any serious consequences, things are coming to light. And something else. No one wants Ursula in Bulgaria, there are protests against her, and you see, she suddenly turns into some kind of hero who, risking her life, comes to our country to do something and open 1000 jobs. That's what Boyko Borisov said. All this is so stupid and ridiculous that it seems to me that it goes beyond the boundaries of texts and events intended for reasonable people. There is nothing dangerous, there is no endangering the flight.

- But Russia was involved…
- That's what I was going to say. Today it is very convenient to blame the Russians. The Russians this, the Russians that… The Russians, if they want to do something to you, they will do it properly. This has been known for a long time. They will not block GPS connection, and the pilots can land without GPS without any problems. What is the use of that? It was all just a phantom trick from the “gray“ PR. It is not from the “black“ PR, something completely cruel that would shock the general public. This action in Plovdiv, this incident with Ursula's GPS is a deception for the simple-minded stupid public. There is a basic rule in PR: “When they hate you, seek sympathy“.
