The Hungarian elections showed something important: when a community is alive and has collective strength, even the strongest regime begins to look vulnerable. This is the big lesson for Bulgaria as well. We are waiting for an external savior and a person to do the hard work for us. This is deeply embedded in our archetype.

This was commented on "Facebook" by Ivan Kirilov Ivanov.

Our problem is not only political. It is also deeply psychological. We too often behave like disunited people who do not believe that together they can change the direction. That is why we idealize individuals, and do not build community and trust among ourselves. We are looking for an all-powerful savior, and not creating a civil community, we are waiting for the messiah, instead of recognizing ourselves as a social force.

From a psychodynamic point of view, this means one thing, we must get out of the dependent position. To stop projecting omnipotence into one person, to stop feeling small, helpless and doomed. Let's stop thinking of ourselves as an audience, and start experiencing ourselves as a community with will, memory, dignity and strength.

What do we need to change?

Trust each other more, and less in political idols and saviors.

Choose to participate in the political process instead of criticizing everything and everyone.

Choose trust and community instead of hatred for everyone.

Choose responsibility and action instead of constant complaining and feeling like we are victims.

Choose the self-respect of being ourselves instead of the eternal hope that “someone from above” will come and sort out our lives.

Let's choose normal, strong and professionally proven personalities, instead of puppets, sons (daughters) of their fathers, conformists, narcissists and psychopaths.

Real change begins when we stop waiting for another savior, and believe in ourselves as a community, because the power does not lie in one person. The power is to awaken the group “we“.

Just as the Hungarians, Ukrainians and soon the Americans did.
