Opposition leads in Czech parliamentary elections

The opposition movement ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens) is leading in the Czech parliamentary elections with 39.17% of the vote after 25% of polling stations have been counted, Czech Television reported, citing the Statistical Office.

„The centrist opposition movement ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens), led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babis, is leading in the elections for the lower house of the Czech parliament with 39.17% after 25% of polling stations have been counted. The ruling right-liberal coalition SPOLU (Together), led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala, is in second place with 19.39%. The voter turnout was 69.18%, the television reported.

The next places were taken by the center-right movement STAN (Mayors and Independents) with 10.67%, the populist movement SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) with 8.39%, the recently formed movement “Motorists” with 7.51% and the Czech Pirate Party with 7.05%. The remaining parties and movements have so far received less than 5%, the threshold needed to enter parliament.
