During his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky will want to secure his agreement in principle to grant Ukraine the right to purchase any American weapons without restrictions.
This was stated by the head of his office, Andriy Ermak, to the American news bulletin Axios.
He noted that Zelensky wants to expand the range of weapons purchased from the US for Ukraine. "We need a political decision from the United States that we will be able to buy any weapons we need without any restrictions," Ermak said.
He also acknowledged that the new US arms delivery mechanism, under which weapons are purchased from NATO countries and then transferred to Ukraine, is causing delays. He said this "especially applies to air defense systems."
Trump plans to welcome Zelensky to the White House on Friday. The US leader previously announced that Zelensky would request the delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine on October 17.
