A delegation from „Hamas“, led by de facto leader Khalil al-Haya, arrived in Cairo yesterday to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with Israel with mediators and other Palestinian factions, the Egyptian news site „Tahya Masr“ reported, citing a press release from the Islamist movement, BTA reports.
The news comes after Israeli airstrikes „on „Hamas“ terrorist targets; in response to an attack on Israeli soldiers in Rafah“. Both sides accuse each other of violating the agreement, but reaffirm their commitment to ending the fire.
Two Israeli soldiers were killed in the incident, and according to Palestinian sources, the Israeli strikes caused dozens of casualties.
US President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire remains in force, blaming "some rebels" from "Hamas" for the alleged violations.
At the same time, the Palestinian movement is working to return the bodies of the dead Israeli hostages. According to the Emirati newspaper "The National," specialized teams from Egypt and Qatar are already in Gaza and, with permission from Israel, will assist "Hamas" in the search and removal of the remains. Turkish specialists are also expected to join.
US Vice President J.D. Vance, along with Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Trump, will visit Israel this week to support the implementation of the next phase of the ceasefire agreement, Al Ahram newspaper reported, citing American media.
