The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi is “fully aware of the peaceful nature“ of Iran's nuclear program and should not make “unfounded statements“ on the subject. This was stated by the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, quoted by „Reuters“, reports BTA.
His statement comes a day after Grossi announced that movement had been detected near Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles, but specified that this „does not mean that there is enrichment activity“.
Bagaei repeated his accusations that Grossi's previous statements about the Iranian nuclear program facilitated the Israeli and US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June.
Iranian representatives accused the IAEA of justifying the Israeli bombings, which began a day after the agency's board voted to declare Iran a violator of its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
„Grossi should refrain from expressing "unfounded opinions about our nuclear program. He is fully aware of its peaceful nature," Bagaye stressed.
