Due to the government shutdown: Domestic flights in the US were cut by 4%

The measure is in effect from today at 40 US airports with high traffic

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered airlines to reduce the number of domestic flights by 4% for 40 US airports with high traffic, Reuters reported.

The restrictions take effect this morning at 6:00 a.m. Eastern US time (13:00 Bulgarian time). The FAA is citing concerns about air traffic safety due to the government shutdown.

In its final order, the Federal Aviation Administration said it would require 4% cuts for 40 major U.S. airports by Monday before imposing 10% cuts starting Nov. 14.

The FAA is also imposing restrictions on space launches but not on international flights.
