A US proposal for a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which has allegedly been handed over to the Ukrainian leadership, includes demands for a reduction in the armed forces and recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Donbas and the so-called Novorossiya, AFP reported, citing a senior Ukrainian official.
The proposal includes recognition of “Crimea and other regions“ on Russian territory, as well as “reducing the army to 400,000 soldiers“, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Ukraine must also give up all its long-range weapons, he added.
“An important nuance is that we do not understand whether this is really Trump's plan or that of his entourage“, the source told the agency, adding that Kiev also does not know what demands will be made of Russia.
