Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said today that the extraordinary summit of the European Union shows the leaders' desire to continue the armed conflict in Ukraine, TASS reported, Focus reports.
Orban participated in a video conference in the meeting, which was held in Luanda, Angola.
„This meeting has just ended. We reviewed the 28-point peace plan presented by the United States. Thousands of questions arise. After today's video conference, I can say one thing for sure - the European Union wants to continue the war," Orbán said in a video address broadcast by the M1 television channel.
The prime minister added that the EU plans to continue providing financial and military assistance to Kiev, despite the lack of a clear mechanism for supplies and financing. "There is neither a center for the supply of military equipment, there is no center for financing Ukrainian operations, and there is no clear idea of where the necessary funds will come from," he said.
Orbán stressed that Brussels relies on the budgets of member states to support Ukraine, but Hungary refuses to participate. "We are not ready to sacrifice the future of our grandchildren to finance a war that is impossible to win," the Hungarian prime minister said.
The EU summit in Luanda was held in extraordinary session and coincided with the planned EU meeting with the African Union. European Council President António Costa has invited the leaders of all 27 member states to urgently discuss the new US plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
