Poland is negotiating with Ukraine to transfer its MiG-29 fighters, and in return, the provision of Ukrainian drone technology is being discussed, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamiś announced, quoting "Reuters", reports News.bg.

„After some time, the MiG-29 aircraft will no longer serve in the Polish Air Force due to their exhausted service life“, Kosyniak-Kamiś said.

„We are negotiating the transfer of MiG-29s, but we are also discussing the exchange of technologies with Ukraine, such as drones. This solidarity must be two-way,“ he stressed.

The Polish Army General Staff explained that the potential transfer was due to the lack of opportunities to modernize the outdated MiG-29 fighters designed in the Soviet Union. The statement noted that the final decision had not yet been made.

Currently, the tasks performed by the withdrawn MiGs will be taken over by F-16 and FA-50 aircraft.

The army added that in connection with the transfer, negotiations are underway with Ukraine on the provision of selected drone and missile technologies to Poland, as part of the allied policy of supporting Ukraine and maintaining the security of NATO's eastern flank.
