The statements that Ukraine does not have enough funds to hold presidential elections are part of Kiev's strategy to secure additional funding from the West. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by “Izvestia“, reports Focus.

According to him, it is not clear to what extent the comments of the adviser to the Ukrainian President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak reflect the official position of the Ukrainian authorities. Peskov expressed doubt whether such statements represent the real point of view of Kiev.

The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that the Ukrainian side uses “various tricks“ to attract additional financial resources from its Western partners.

Earlier, Mykhailo Podoliak stated that the country does not have the necessary resources to organize elections. According to him, the main budget priorities at the moment are related to militarization and the financing of social programs.
