The Syrian Defense Ministry said 11 people were killed and at least 25 wounded on Wednesday in attacks by the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) after the announced ceasefire, Syrian state television reported, quoted by Reuters.

After concluding a new agreement with the SDF, the government announced a four-day ceasefire, effective from Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, the head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Brad Cooper discussed the ongoing tensions in Syria with the country's President Ahmed al-Sharaa. "The two discussed the possibilities for Syrian government forces to respect the ceasefire with the Syrian Democratic Forces and to support the coordinated transfer of ISIS detainees from Syria to Iraq," said CENTCOM spokesman Tim Hawkins.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Qatar have accepted the invitation to join the so-called US President Donald Trump's Peace Council, Reuters reported, citing a joint statement by Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

The text states that each country will sign accession documents in accordance with its internal legal procedures.

Kuwait also accepts the invitation to join the Peace Council, the country's foreign ministry said.

Trump has invited dozens of world leaders to join his initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts, although diplomats fear that this format could harm the work of the United Nations.
