A thirteen-year-old boy died in the Brazilian city of Olinda after being bitten by a shark, Agence France-Presse reported, citing local authorities, BTA reported.

The state of Pernambuco, where Olinda is located, attracts tourists for its paradise beaches. But authorities warn of the danger of sharks. The boy was attacked by a shark in the area of Chifre beach. He was taken to a local hospital, but did not survive.

Earlier this year, another person was injured by a shark in this area. And since 1992, the state of Pernambuco has recorded 82 shark attacks, 27 of which were fatal.

The state has a coastline of 187 kilometers, but shark attacks are concentrated in a 33-kilometer area between the cities of Recife and Olinda.
