Iran will attack US military bases in the Middle East if the US launches an attack on the country, warned Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. His statement was quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.

“We cannot attack US territory, but if Washington attacks us, their bases in the region will be a legitimate target“, Araghchi said in an interview with the Qatari satellite channel “Al Jazeera“. Excerpts from the conversation were also published on his official profile on the “Telegram“ app.

The minister confirmed that a date has not yet been set for the next round of talks between Tehran and Washington on Iran's nuclear program. This became clear a day after the talks between the two countries in Oman. However, according to him, both the US and the Islamic Republic expect a new round of dialogue to take place in the near future.

“At this stage, there is no specific date for new negotiations, but both we and Washington are of the opinion that they should be held soon“, Araghchi specified.

He stressed that uranium enrichment is an inalienable right of Iran and must continue. At the same time, Tehran is ready to conclude an agreement that would dispel international concerns related to this process.

Araghchi added that although the talks in Oman were conducted indirectly through a mediator, they created a real opportunity for the Iranian and American delegations to ultimately reach an agreement.
