At least 29 people were killed in the town of Nabi Shiit in eastern Lebanon during an operation carried out by Israeli forces in the surrounding area, Al-Hadath reported. The channel said the number of wounded had exceeded 35.

A detachment of Israeli commandos landed in the mountainous area near Nabi Sheet with 4 helicopters to locate and retrieve the remains of navigator Ron Arad, who was captured in 1986. The troops headed for the Al-Shokr family cemetery, where the remains of the Israeli pilot are buried, but were ambushed by Hezbollah fighters and locals.

To ensure the group's retreat from the combat zone, planes and helicopters carried out dozens of airstrikes on Nabi Sheet. In a statement posted on its Telegram channel, Hezbollah confirmed that its fighters had clashed with an Israeli unit near the cemetery in Nabi Sheet. No Israeli military casualties were reported.

Ron Arad, an Israeli Air Force navigator, was captured on October 16, 1986, after his F-4 Phantom was shot down over Lebanon during a combat mission. Arad was reportedly shot down in captivity in May 1988, but remains missing.
