The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive and ruling the country. This was stated by the Iranian Ambassador to Rome, Mohammad Reza Sabouri, in an interview with the Italian agency ANSA, quoted by BTA.

Mojtaba Khamenei is the second son of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the beginning of the Israeli-American strikes on Iran on February 28. Mojtaba was elected the country's new Supreme Leader in early March. But no one has seen him since then, and media reports have suggested he was injured in the attack on Ali Khamenei and was even in a coma.

These claims have not stopped, although Iranian media outlets have published several messages from Mojtaba so far.

Iran's ambassador to Rome said the supreme leader does not appear in public for security reasons.

Sabouri also said Tehran wants a ceasefire, arguing that "the main problem is the contradictory behavior and unreasonable demands of the United States, which fuel distrust. "Iran has always supported the peaceful resolution of disputes," he added.

“Iran's demands and rights were clearly presented during the second round of talks in Geneva, a few days before the attack.
So the United States has no difficulty understanding Iran's position. The attack on February 28th was carried out while a serious diplomatic process was underway aimed at alleviating alleged concerns about Iran's nuclear program. If Iran had doubts about the outcome of the negotiations and the US commitment to abide by the agreements, after the war began, those doubts turned into complete distrust about how sincere America is when it says it is ready to negotiate at any time," the Iranian ambassador said.

He acknowledged that various countries had tried to reduce tensions and stop the "Israeli-US war machine" by proposing different ideas. "The main problem remains that the US and the Zionist regime do not respect the principles of diplomacy and international law," he added.
